Android Market Surpasses 10 Billion Downloads

Google has announced that as of December 2011, more than 10 billion apps have been downloaded by Android users in the Android Market. That number has increased rapidly since July 2011, the number of applications downloaded for only around 6 billion.

Based on data from The Telegraph, Monday (12/12/2011), the number of Android devices enabled  in the world reached 500,000 per day. Android users who download the application from the Android Market is spread in 190 countries.

Ranked from 1 to 10, most application downloaders in android market are from South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, United States, Singapore, Sweden, Israel, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Norway.

Game still be the belle of the application for Android users, with a percentage of 25.6 percent. Another favorite application categories are entertainment applications 12.2 percent, 11.2 percent tools, and communication 6.5 percent.

Android Market is very popular

According to Google, downloading the application on the Android Market through the 1 billion within the first 20 months. However, number 2 billion could be penetrated only within five months thereafter. Faster, number 3 billion reached two months later. To reach 10 billion, the Android Market apps accelerated 4 billion in five months (from July to December 2011).

Google continues to boost sales and download applications. In addition, Google also will redesign the Android Market as proof of its seriousness to compete with Apple’s App Store.
